Charities Supported by Holy Cross

Crediton Parochial Church Council donates 5% of its income to charitable causes. The sum given during a full year will amount to approximately £5,000. Eighty per cent of the amount allocated to charities is divided between four main ones, each of which receives twenty per cent of the total. The remaining twenty per cent is kept in reserve in order that the church can respond to major disaster appeals quickly.

The four main charities being supported in 2010 are:

Church Missionary Society
CMS is committed to evangelistic mission, working to see our world transformed by the love of Jesus. We have a direct link with two CMS missionaries, Heather & David Sharland, who work in the Sudan.
Church Army
Church Army is about communicating the unchanging message of an unchanging God to a fast-changing culture
Chips
(Christian International Peace Service)
CHIPS work is currently focussed in Uganda but over the past 40 years CHIPS has been active in many other parts of the world.
Connect
An inter-denominational youth group operating in Devon Schools.
We also support..
Christian Aid
Together with other churches in the town, we support Christian Aid during Christian Aid Week and at other times of the year

The charities are also supported by fund-raising events, notably Lent Lunches, during the year and collections are taken at services when speakers from the charities visit the church. Some monies are in addition to the main donation described above.
