Charities Supported by Holy Cross

Crediton Parochial Church Council donates 5% of its income to charitable causes. The sum given during a full year will amount to approximately £5,000. Eighty per cent of the amount allocated to charities is divided between four main ones, each of which receives twenty per cent of the total. The remaining twenty per cent is kept in reserve in order that the church can respond to major disaster appeals quickly.

The main charities supported are:

Church Missionary Society
CMS is committed to evangelistic mission, working to see our world transformed by the love of Jesus. We have a direct link with two CMS missionaries, Heather & David Sharland, who work in the Sudan.

An inter-denominational charity supporting Christian youth workers in Mid-Devon Schools.

Christian Aid
Together with other churches in the town, we support Christian Aid during Christian Aid Week and at other times of the year

We also support...

The Children’s Society
A children’s charity who help children of all faiths and none, including children at risk on the streets, disabled children, young refugees, young carers and more.

The Disasters Emergency Committee
The DEC brings together the leading UK aid agencies to finance relief for people affected by major disasters in poorer countries.r

These charities (and others) are also supported by fund-raising events, notably cake stalls, during the year and collections are taken at services when speakers from the charities visit the church. Such monies are in addition to the main donation described above. Additionally we are affiliated to CHAT (Churches Housing Action Team) who support people with housing difficulties in Mid Devon
